NoVA-2 Custom EDC Kiradashi: A Knife Junkie & Hogtooth Knives Collaboration

The NoVA-2 EDC Kiradashi knife is a design collaboration between Bob DeMarco of the Knife Junkie Podcast and ABS Journeyman Bladesmith, Matt Chase of Hogtooth Knives. Following on the success of the NoVA-1 EDC Bowie, the NoVA-2 takes inspiration from the same source, the Hogtooth Knives EDC Tanto, a fixed blade knife that’s easy to carry in the uptight environs of Northern Virginia. The Knife Junkie decided to call this series NoVA, in honor of the DC suburbs.

The 3.75-inch 154CM Kiradashi blade reflects the spirit of the traditional Japanese utility knife with its centerline point and upward angled straight edge. This traditional blade design sports a refined tip and a  hollow grind, delivering effortless and precise utility cutting while excelling at thrusting, slashing and other self-defense applications.  

The handle ergonomics of the NoVA-2 and overall package are based on the Hogtooth Knives EDC Tanto, a fixed blade knife consistently featured on the Knife Junkie Podcast due to its ease of carry, robust utility and utter charm. The NoVA-2 features polished ivory G10 handle scales with red liners.

The Kydex sheath is a taco style, minimizing the overall footprint of the NoVA-2 and creating snappy, rattle-free retention of the knife. A thumb wave on the sheath aids in the discreet removal of the blade and the Discreet Carry Concepts clip keeps the sheath firmly anchored where you put it.

With the NoVA-2 clipped to your pocket or waistband, and now you have it covered, from cutting string and cardboard to defending life and limb. Each knife is hand made by Matt Chase in Massachusetts, where he proudly makes knives at the forge and the grinder from 100% USA materials.
